چکیده

Free flight is an effective way to solve the congestions of air traffic flow. In order to guarantee the flight security, there is great significance to study on collision risk assessment in free flight. This paper applies the idea of collision risk of fixed route based on conflict area for reference, firstly designs a conflict area and establishes the collision risk model in free flight on the basis of it, and then gives the calculation of the parameters in the model. The model considers the influence of communication, navigation and surveillance performance to the probability of overlap and introduces the probability of the failure of controller’s monitoring. The numerical example shows that the model can evaluate the collision risk in free flight effectively. The inverse problem of collision risk model is explored, then the minimum safety separation in free flight is got by simulating, and the advice of reduce the separation is given.

A Risk Assessment Model for Free Flight Terminal Area Reduced Separation

Safety levels are a vital concern as new technologies and procedures are introduced into the National Airspace System. Despite a wealth of information from flight operations and testing programs, there is no accepted method to quantify the relationship between safety levels and aircraft separation standards in the terminal area. This paper presents a modeling approach to quantify the risk assoc...

Safety of advanced airborne self separation under very high en-route traffic demand

Since the “invention” of free flight, an outstanding question is how much traffic demand can safely be accommodated by airborne self separation. In order to answer this question, within the iFly project an advanced airborne self separation concept of operations (ConOps) has been developed. This paper shows the results of an assessment of this ConOps on safety risk under very high en-route traff...

Fundamental Characteristics of Decentralized Air Traffic Flow Control in High Density Corridor

Fundamental characteristics of decentralized separation control in a high density air corridor are discussed. A high density air corridor is expected to be an air space where aircraft capable of airborne self-separation are allowed to fly into the same direction. Some decentralized control algorithms are indispensable for its operational safety and a large traffic throughput. In this study two ...

Performance Evaluation of Airborne Separation Assurance for Free Flight

Airborne separation assurance is a key requirement for free flight operations. This paper investigates the feasibility of airborne separation assurance for free flight by evaluating the performance of Conflict Detection and Resolution (CD&R) schemes in a simulated air traffic environment. Two qualitatively different CD&R methods were evaluated in an air traffic simulation environment provided b...

Token Allocation Strategy for Free-Flight Conflict Solving

For the last 10 years, airlines have widely supported research on the development of airspaces where aircraft would be free to decide their trajectory: these areas where called Free-flight airspaces. However, as soon as two aircraft are in the same area, their separation must be guaranteed. FACES is an autonomous and coordinated embarked (on board) conflict solver for Free Flight airspace. It s...
